In 1997 Daniel
Kertcher
became fascinated
with the stock market. At the time, both the US and
Australian stock markets were starting to rise strongly.
This rise was the beginning of what later became known as
the “Tech-Boom”. Daniel, however, knew nothing about the
stock market, so decided to find someone who could teach
him.
His search led him
to two gentlemen living in New Zealand, Bruce Barnard and
Max Lewis. These two gentlemen both had over 30 years of
share trading and technical analysis experience. Both were
in their 60’s and together had established the Society of
Technical Analysis of New Zealand (STANZ), with Bruce
Barnard as the Chairman and President of STANZ.
Daniel felt he
couldn’t have found better teachers! So he hired the two
gentlemen to teach him about the stock market. Both men
flew over to Australia and spent a week with Daniel, one on
one, teaching him about trading. Daniel was so impressed by
them and their knowledge, that he asked them to form a
company with him. He knew that there were many other people
who wanted this knowledge. He just had to present Bruce and
Max to them. So MetaShare International was born.
In 1998 MetaShare
International opened it’s first office in Auckland, New
Zealand. MetaShare offered courses in share trading and
technical analysis and proved to be extremely popular. Very
quickly Daniel had teams teaching the courses in other NZ
cities and in 1999 opened the new head office in Sydney. By
2000, MetaShare had over 3,500 customers with offices in
Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Auckland and regional teams in
Christchurch and Wellington. |
